Illustration
I enjoy playing with color in my paintings. I frequently work in gouache, oil, acrylic.

What draws me into illustration the most is the storytelling aspect. I like to play around with the different elements, moods, and compositions to sell a story.
Live Figure Drawing
Plein Air
I plein air locally in LA, sometimes with Warrior Painters. In the last year, plein air has taught me about depth, perspective, composition framing, and visual hierarchy.

Painting from life has challenged my observational skills and decision making. It’s a breath of fresh air (no pun intended) and brings valuable insight into my illustrations.

My primary medium for plein air is designer gouache.
Drawing Booth
My colleague and I started a free drawing booth in our local parks.

This project started out as drawing practice but grew into something much more. The nature of this booth created opportunities for us to meet  and capture their lives at that point in time. We would sketch for 3-5 minutes and give them the final drawing.

I found this to be an authentic and refreshing experience. Families, couples, children, and friends would approach us for an opportunity to share and connect. At the end of our time, they would recieve a tangible and personalized souvenir of their ordinary day.
